Dear Parents of New Preschoolers:

We are looking forward to having your child with us at preschool this year! In this first bulletin we would like to share some important information with you. Please read this information carefully and let us know if you have any questions.

ORIENTATION:

The Parents Orientation Program will be at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 . Attendance at this program is mandatory for all new families to our preschool. The preschool program, class routines and Parent Handbook guidelines will be discussed. Remember, attendance is required. If at least one parent is unable to attend we ask that you send a representative in your place(Please review the parent handbook before orientation night. Click here to view the handbook Returning families are also welcome to attend, but it is not required.)

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL:

For 2010-11 Year - -

The First days of school will be as noted below:

FULL DAY CHILDREN -     Mon.,               8 /2

3/4 DAY CHILDREN -           Tues.,              8 / 3

1/2 DAY CHILDREN -           Wed.,               8 /4

On Wednesday all the children will be attending together for the first time. (Children will continue to attend on the days that follow their first day of attendance.)

ARRIVAL TIME, LEAVE-TAKING & ADJUSTMENT PERIOD:

Please cooperate with us in making sure that your child arrives at preschool no later  than 7:45 a.m. It is crucial to your child’s sense of security and will increase  his/ her ability to make a good adjustment if you regularly arrive on time. In this way your child will be able to take part in the classroom’s important daily morning routines.

To further help your child make a smooth adjustment to preschool, you are also asked to make your farewells loving, brief and firm. Do not linger in hallways or near your child’s classroom. Just remind your child to stay with his/her teacher so that you will know where to find him when you return. Talk for several days ahead of time in a positive, encouraging way about preschool. Be sure your child knows that you believe he/she is ready for this new experience. You can have confidence in the decision you have made to provide a preschool experience for your child and be comfortable knowing our school has a highly trained and excellent staff. They are skilled and very experienced at providing comfort and support for children in a loving, caring way as they make the transition from home to a preschool setting.

DISMISSAL:

Please pick your child up promptly before or by his program’s dismissal time. A good adjustment for your child will be enhanced by the security that comes from a dependable pick up time daily. A fee of $1/min. late is also charged after one late pickup reminder.

Sign-In and Sign-Out sheets are provided daily for your use. Please write the time and sign your name/initials when dropping off and picking up your child. If you are in a carpool and bring or pick up children other than your own, you must write the time and sign your name for each child dropped off or picked up.

Please note: Anyone picking up a child must have written permission by the child’s parent(s)/legal guardian(s) and is required to show identification upon request.

BEFORE THE CHILD’S FIRST DAY OF ATTENDANCE:

The Hawaii State Department of Health requires that all children entering a child care center or preschool submit a Health Form 14 as proof that:

             1) all required immunizations are current and up-to-date

             2) a physical exam has been given within one year prior to first day of school

and,  3) a tuberculosis clearance test (Mantoux) has been received within one year prior to entrance into preschool

Your child’s birth certificate must also be submitted to the office for verification of your child’s age. A photocopy will be made and the original returned to you.
